I’ve resided in Ireland all my life. Growing up, our household had six family members, a budgie and a progression of stray cats. My father was a carpenter and my mother was (what was then called) a housewife. I have two siblings—an older brother and a younger sister. Although unlucky to only have one grandparent alive when we came along, we were lucky she lived with us.
I wrote my first short story at the age of 13, based on the Choose Your Own Adventure series. As a child, I also liked writing nature stories. Reading was one of my favourite pastimes. I usually read mysteries, psychological thrillers and science-fiction.
After secondary school, I studied Commerce (Banking and Finance) at U.C.D., Dublin, graduating in 1994. It came as a shock when our father died that year after a short illness. Our granny had passed away earlier the previous year.
I’ve spent over 20 years in the software industry in various Quality Assurance and Development roles. During that time, I also studied for a night degree in Computer Science at Trinity College, Dublin and graduated in 2001.
I’m married and have two children, one son and one daughter.
I’ve created this website to publish short pieces of fiction and to provide content that advocates embracing:
- Social justice: where societies attempt to be more inclusive and strive for a fairer distribution of available resources for all
- Diversity: where societies coexist and interact respectfully with those of different belief systems, needs and wishes
- Sustainability: where societies are aware of and work towards improving the impacts of their belief systems, needs and wishes on other societies and the environment
